Back in April, Epsilon Mu hosted a kickball charity event along with Kappa Epsilon to raise money for the local charity Devereux Threshold Center for Autism, it was an amazing turnout as we were able to raise $400 for the center. Last Saturday, we visited the campus to not only present the check, but also learn exactly where the money is going to and meet the incredible people that have dedicated their lives to helping these individuals. The campus offers a safe home-like environment where many adolescents and children facing behavioral disabilities live their lives doing such things as going to school, keeping stimulated physically and mentally with arts and crafts, and building basic life skills that will hopefully allow them to one day live independently. As we learned more about the facility and the people living and working there, we were inspired to form new ideas of how we can help in the future aside from donating. Philanthropy committee will have much to talk about in their next meeting!
